Ginger Molasses Cookies
My object is a recipe of ginger molasses cookies. The ginger molasses cookies are made with: oil, sugar, molasses, egg, salt, baking soda, flour, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon. I feel that these ginger molasses cookies are very special to my family. We make memories making the cookies and eating them as a family. These cookies were from my great grandfather, passed down to my grandma, passed down to my mom, and now we make them on special occasions. It is not just eating the cookies, it is the experience. We make them as a family and eat them as a family. We make memories with these cookies.
These cookies teach me that culture can be tied to food- and history. We make many memories and they are passed down from generation to generation. I chose ginger molasses cookies because they are special to my family. We don’t make them very often so when we do it is exciting. We make them on special occasions but we also like to share them with family and friends. They are fun to make and eat. Whenever we make them we think about my great grandfather who gave us the recipe.
Some questions I would ask if my great grandfather was still here today are: When did he make the ginger molasses cookies? Maybe Christmas? Birthdays? Any other special occasions? Or just all the time? Did he enjoy making these cookies? When was the first time he made them and why? Did he make them for the whole family? These cookies are very special to my family. I will keep the tradition going.
