"Dirty Water"

For as long as I can remember, the drink “dirty water” has been in my family. One of the first time I had ever drank this was when I was about 6 but a time I can remember clearly was when I was 8 years old. The drink consists of iced tea, pepsi, 7-up, ginger ale, pineapple juice and a lot of ice. I had just finished making it with my mother and aunt, helping by passing them the ingredients, and I was excited because it was my older sister’s 22nd birthday. We were going to surprise her and the whole family was in my aunt’s house. My aunts, uncles, cousins, you name it and they were there. My cousins decided that they wanted to dance and ended up convincing me to join them. Little did I know that my whole family was able to see me due to us dancing in the hallway. I ran away embarrassed but this just shows that this drink has been connected with my family for years. When my grandmother moved from Arkansa to New York, she had brought the recipe for the drink with her and ever since then, whenever there’s a huge family event, we’d make “dirty water”. This drink holds a dear place in my heart and it always will due to all the family memories connected to it. And I hope to make even more memories with this drink in the up and coming years.
