Food (Artifact )
The artifact I will bring in is a picture of salami and tostones, a traditional Dominican dish. This food represents me because it reflects my culture and my family's traditions. It is more than just something to eat; it carries the flavor of my heritage and the memories of sharing meals. This dish holds significance for me because it reminds me of the Dominican Republic, the place where my family originates. In Dominican households, food like salami and tostones is often served during breakfast or gatherings, and it always brings people closer. Even though I live in Queens, New York, eating this meal or even seeing the people eating it makes me feel close to my roots, as it is a very familiar meal when you think of one of the dishes they serve. Geographically, this artifact connects to the Dominican Republic, where both plantains and salami are common foods. Tostones are made by frying green plantains, and when paired with Dominican salami and other ingredients, they create a unique taste characteristic of the island. That is why this artifact holds such significance. It represents not only my culture's flavors but also the pride, as Dominican meals often include green plantains. In most meals. In the end, this picture is more than just an image of food. It reflects my identity, my connection to family, and the traditions that continue to shape who I am, as well as those who try Dominican dishes like these.
