Father's Old School Card
This is my father's old School ID Card from the Sharjah Indian School in the UAE. My father's side of the family left India after generations of living there. My grandfather went to college in India, got a job with GM in the USA during the 1960s, and decided that he wanted his family in the future, to come to America. In the early 1970s, my grandparents got married. My father was born after his older sister in 1977. When he was only three, they moved to Oman. after staying a couple of years there, they moved a few hundred miles away to the UAE. This was before they had visas to come to the US since they still had Indian passports. Even while they were abroad in the Middle East, they were still very in touch with their Indian heritage. My father and aunt went to Indian schools even while in the UAE, which is what is in the photo. They came back to India for a couple of years before coming to the US in 1985. This image shows how even though my family migrated from India generations ago, we are still very in touch with our culture and heritage. The other picture is a bracelet on my arm that is from an Indian holiday that we recently celebrated called Rakshabandhan. Even the 2nd/3rd(moms side) generation celebrates and is proud of our heritage.
