Family
Being of Mexican descent, it was apparent that my culture was driven by men and masculine traits. This is known as Machismo. Growing up in an all female household made me realize that if I want to accomplish anything I need to focus on my goals and become self-dependent. But being the youngest also showed me I would always have my sisters help with anything. I am lucky to have my sisters because they helped raise me and get me to where I am today. As much as I hate when my sisters act like a parent towards me, I know they're just trying to look out for me and if I could I would do the same for them. Since I could remember, I have always looked up to my mother and sisters. They are my biggest role models. They are the perfect representation of the kind of women I want to be. Not only did they give me a home, but they gave me hope. Especially my mom; Leaving her family behind, working from a very young age far away from her home 24/7, raising my 5 sisters and I all on her own. There’s also my oldest sister that was always by my side, and protected me. Since it was just my sisters and I most of the time, my mom taught us to never depend on anyone, especially a man and that we’d always have each other no matter what. They made me the type of person I am today.
