Evil eye
The object that I picked to represent my culture is the Evil eye, which is an ancient Turkish belief. The Evil eye is used through a lot of different religions and is worn by many. It means "Nazar boncuk" in Turkish and is said to keep away evil spirits as well as jealousy, bringing good luck. The evil eye has many different ways to be kept, it can be worn in a necklace, bracelet, ring, earings, it can be pinned somewhere, placed somewhere, or it can be hung somewhere (usually households). Sometimes people would pin it on cloth of a newborn baby, so that they will be protected in the future. I personally have gotten a lot of gifts of the evil eye such as the bracelets shown, from my Turkish relatives and cherish them, as they represent my culture. I have given my friends the evil eye as a gift and am proud to see someone wearing an evil eye.
