English Textbook
This is a page out of an English class textbook that my uncle used in 5th grade in the USSR. My mom and her family brought the textbook with them, hoping it would help them learn English, when they immigrated to Phoenix, Arizona. My grandfather mainly used it to learn. This page is especially interesting to me because it is propaganda, and it shows me the extent of the propaganda that my mom had to put up with, even in subjects that are completely unrelated to history or communism. My mother told me she remembers looking at the longer texts in English in the back of the book as a teen and not being able to read them. This is unimaginable to me, as my mom is now fluent in English, and it is the only language we communicate in.
