Ellis Island document
This is a photo of when my great-great-grandmother Rose Karshan and her Sister Dora Karshan immigrated from Russia to America. Rose and Dora had entered through Ellis Island. They had to go on a very long journey on a boat. They came to Ellis Island but they had no idea if they were even going to get through the hard cheeks they had to do. Despite these hard cheeks where many were denied and sent back they were able to stay in America and be citizens. Rose and Dora then started their lives in this new city getting jobs and moving to the Lower East Side. Eventually, Rose met a man named Chaim and they got married. Moved to Brownsville in Brooklyn and had my grandpa Howard Karshan. They also had his older sister Rhoda Karshan. Then the whole family moved to Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn. My grandpa then met my grandma Linda Karshan quite young and they got engaged within 3 days. After that, they got married and had my dad; then my dad had me and my sister with my mom. The whole reason I am alive is because of Rose and Dora got accepted when trying to immigrate from Russia to Ellis Island very long ago.
