Eleanor's Handkerchief
This handkerchief is something that belonged to my great grandmother, Eleanor, who emigrated here from Romania at a very young age. She learned english in elementary school and taught it to her parents who only spoke german. She later married a Harvard educated Army doctor, my great grandfather, and they created the german-american culture that is my dad’s side of the family. This shows that american culture is diversified by immigrants who bring pieces of their countries with them and incorporate their traditions into american culture, which are then passed down in families.
