Traditional Mexican dresses are special to me because they are a part of my culture and my family. All the women and girls in my family have traditional Mexican dresses. When my mother lived in Mexico as a child, she would wear these dresses that were handmade by my grandmother. These dresses are worn in special occasions, such as, quinceañeras, Mexican Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo, and other holidays/fiestas. These dresses come in many different colors and embroidery patterns. I remember when my grandma took me to the store, next door there were so many colorful handmade dresses. I fell in love with a pink one with colorful flowers and ruffled sleeves. My grandma didn't have much then, so we left without it. But a month later, she surprised me by sending me the dress I had wanted. It meant so much to me because the dress wasn't cheap, and I knew how hard she had worked for it. To this day, I cherish my grandma and the dress.
