These earrings were given to my mom in her wedding in Mexico and  when you have a wedding it's a big celebration not just because you are getting married but also because you are uniting one family and another family together to make a big family. For many girls they wish to get married with the love of their life and live happily ever after but when you have to leave the place  where you were born and raised and leave everything behind it can be hard. I think that was one of the reasons why my grandmother gave my mom those earrings and rings so she would not forget about Mexico and about her mother and her family. It meant more to my mom especially when her mother passed away because it was the last thing her mom had given her. It sometimes makes me feel very connected to my family and seeing some items that they have like a photo, clothing or jewelry because it makes the story come more to life. These items are going to be passed from generation to generation and maybe in the future I will be the one telling my stories to my grandkids too and so on.
