Dous Makos
Dous Makos is a traditional Haitian fudge, a sweet, layered confection with vanilla, chocolate, and red-colored stripes, flavored with spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and anise.Created in 1939 by Fernand Macos , it's a popular candy made from sugar, milk, and condensed milk, known for its rich, creamy texture and cultural significance as a symbol of Haitian heritage. Typically has three distinct layers: a tan/vanilla layer, a brown chocolate layer, and a red layer, often resembling the Haitian flag. The mixture is divided. Cocoa powder is added to one part for the brown layer, and red food coloring to another for the red layer. My grand-ma introduced me to this fudge it's really sweet but it's delicious iv'e always like it.
