The Dominican flag

This Dominican flag represents my hispanic roots and my country, it shows how my family and I as Dominicans are proud of our country and where we came from. This synthetic flag was a gift that my grandfather got from D.R for my mother. In the interview with my mom I asked why did he give the flag to her and she responded “ I think he gave it to me because he wants me to be proud of our beautiful island.” My grandfather also bought it for her so that every independence day for D.R, we can hang it up in the apartment and cook a typical dominican dish. Even though my mother was born in America and raised in D.R with the rest of her family, my father was born and raised there and came to this country with my mother after they got married. During the interview I asked why did they come to America and chose to have their family here and she responded “Your father wanted a better future and a better life for his family. We wanted better opportunities for our future family.” The flag and The Dominican Republic means so much to me because I'm so proud of being dominicana. Even though I was not born there and I was born in America, my country will forever be The Dominican Republic.
