My object is the dining room table that my grandparents bought as their first piece of furniture coming to the United States. This table means a lot to our family because two generations of my family have eaten and celebrated at that table. It is a piece of our family history. My grandparents came to the United States in 1968 and moved to Brighton, Massachusetts. They moved into a two-family home with 3 kids and the clothes on their back. They owned barely any furniture. My Nana and Tata decided to get some things for the house- the first thing they purchased was my dining room table. A table is the most important piece of furniture a family can have when they move into a new house. It’s where families break bread, share stories, make new friends, and share memories with old ones. The table is the centerpiece of the home, the place where everyone comes together. Four homes later, my grandparents settled down in Marlborough, Massachusetts. When my Mom and Dad bought their first home together in Milton, Massachusetts, my grandparents gave them that table as a wedding and housewarming gift.  My mom was elated- having this piece of history in her first home was comforting, almost as if she never left home. That table has been in my house through everything- the good, the bad, and the ugly.  My mom has always told me that she will give me that table when I buy my first house. My dining room table is very special to me and my family,  If I  pass the table down in the future, it will mark 3 generations of family members building memories at the same table.
