My object is our family deer lease which has been passed down a generation. Our deer lease started with my dad’s parents until his father passed away and left the deer lease with my Dad. From August through January, we spend countless hours making memories. Although it’s extremely dry and dusty, the vast amount of land and quietness makes our deer lease special. The usage of hunting leases has been around for almost a hundred years. In some cases, these leases aren’t just for a couple of years but can become passed down through generations. My grandfather was the original person to get on the hunting lease until he passed it down. “I grew up hunting with my family, and I’ve been hunting on the lease since I was your age,” said my Dad. Although some years may bring harsh weather, dry land, or less deer than other years, our family never gave up on the place that was memorable to us which makes our tradition so special. Not only hunting is enjoyed, as it’s a great place to spend time with our family and teach your kids about the outdoors, hunting, how to drive a vehicle, and how to cook all at a young age. Although our family tradition isn’t an actual item that has been passed down, our deer lease is very important to us. I have learned a countless amount of life lessons and skills that I will have for the rest of my life.
