So the immigration of my mother family’s started when my grandma Frances Moura decided to leave Valadares , Mina Gerais to come to the United States in 1984 to look for a better life for my mom and her siblings and she came to look for her dream house here in America. She started saving money working in a restaurant and doing house cleaning. After seven years she decided to save money to bring my mom and her siblings my uncle Marcelo came first then my mom , my grandpa, my uncle Maurico and my uncle Marcio came as well. When everyone arrived they all lived together in an apartment in Rockland. When everyone arrived the whole family started working to help my grandma make money so she wasn’t doing it by herself. My mom and her siblings spent one year at brockton highschool to try to gain an education and work hard and make my grandpa and grandma proud. I hold a lot of respect for grandma because of the courage she had to come by herself. My grandpa stayed in Brazil and took care of my mom and her siblings. I’m very proud of my grandma and the woman she became from taking the first step to live the American dream and make a better live for her and her family .
