My object is a decorated wooden spoon. My mother brought it with her to the United States from Belarussia in the early 1990's. It was not used for actual consumption of food because metal is a much better material to eat from in terms of utensils. But, when paired with another spoon, they can be clicked together to make percussive beats. My mother was adept at this, but I never learned the skill. We keep it as a memento of our past in the Soviet Union. Both of my parents emigrated from there to the United States in search of opportunity. I would like to know who created the piece; it is a beautiful work of art.
