Cozy Christmas

Cozy Christmas Feel

A tradition that reflects my cultural identity is the cozy Christmas Eve celebration that my husband, children, and I share each year. It has become my favorite family tradition because we come together and create memories that feel as comforting as a towel fresh out of the dryer on a chilly winter night when I recall them. It is the heart of Christmas magic for me. We begin the day by turning on Christmas music and baking cookies from my grandmother’s recipe book. The sweet scent of vanilla and sugar takes over the house while our holiday playlist fills every room. By night, our newly decorated Christmas tree sparkles with colorful lights that illuminate the room in a tranquil way only Christmas lights can. Our tree is a scrapbook of memories. Our collection of ornaments continues to grow as we add each one with a special meaning attached. As the night winds down, we gather in the living room to watch our favorite Christmas movies, which typically include Christmas Vacation or The Grinch. The laughter of my children dances through the house. As bedtime approaches, the anticipation of Santa and his magic fill the air. The children take turns guessing what will be under the tree when they wake. All year I look forward to this cozy night because it reminds me that family, love, and time together are what the Christmas Season is all about.
