cowboy hat

Every winter break I ever had leading up to high school, my parents would take my sister and I to their hometown of Culiacan, Sinaloa.  During our visit we would have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas and New Years.  Throughout our visit I would see my Grandfather very often.  This was great due to my grandfather moving back to Mexico years before I was born.  As seeing my grandfather was very often, one thing that stood out to me the most was the cowboy hat made of straw he was always wearing.  At that time I was a child and like every child my curiosity got the best of me.  This led to me asking my mother about why he wears it so often.  The following day my grandfather came up to me and explained to me he always wore the hat because as an aging man his eyes become more delicate and it was his favorite because he noticed I would always get my attention stolen by it.  As he was telling me why, he placed the hat on my head and told me not to worry about why he wore it because it is now mine.
