When my great-grandmother, Charlie Bell, was a little girl, she pulled this recipe off of a brown sack. There was a brown sack containing corn meal and she pulled the recipe off it. She lived in Kosse, Texas, which is very rural, so she used the recipe whenever she could. Ever since then, my family has used the recipe whenever there is a holiday or special occasion.
