Coal Miner's lantern

Group:
W. Virginia Coal Mining Carbide Lantern
W. Virginia Coal Mining Carbide Lantern

This lantern came from West Virginia where my great grandfather, Fred Patrick, grew up as the oldest of 17 kids. He moved to East Taunton after WWII after meeting my grandmother at the movies while he was stationed at Myles Standish. She and her family, immigrants from Portugal, lived in E. Taunton.
The lantern belonged to my great great grandfather, Robert Patrick. Robert was a coal miner in West Virginia his whole life and died of black lung disease. The lantern passed down to my great uncle who then passed it to my father.
