Claddagh Ring
A cultural object that connects me to my Irish heritage and family is a Claddagh ring. This ring was gifted to me by my grandmother when I was young and was bought and made in Belfast, Ireland which is where my family is from. My family immigrated to Canada in 1977 due to the dangers of the civil war and to create a better life for my mother and uncle in Canada. The ring reminds me of my family who stayed in Ireland, however it also connects me to my family here, and all the sacrifices they made for me and my siblings. I am rarely seen without this ring, as it has become a part of me, just as my family and heritage is. I will always cherish this object and hope to pass it down through future generations.
