These documents come from my great-grandparents, having been handed down to my grandfather and then my uncle. As teenagers, they moved to the United States from what is now Lithuania in search of work. They were married soon after, according to the Jewish traditions of their old country, evidenced by the second document. However, by my father's generation, most of the family had given up its Jewish heritage. As such, this wedding certificate is one of the only surviving pieces of our family's religious history.
