Christmas Wafer
My grandparents were Polish immigrants who came to the United States. At first after immigrating they weren't able to do much. They couldn't speak English. This was very hard for them because they needed to be able to speak English in order to interact with other people and their surroundings. They left most of their belongings in Poland, so along with a new environment, they didn't know what to do. However one thing remained the same, the tradition of Christmas wafers. This tradition of passing around and eating Eucharist like wafers has been a Polish tradition for a long time. Every time the Christmas wafers are passed out, I think of my grandparents' struggle and my culture.
