Chorizo
My DNA holds two different stories. My Mexican and Asian heritage. My Mexican side is more brought out everyday whether it's through language and history or in this case food. Chorizo and egg is a meal that has been in Mexican culture, and my family for a long time. This dish has been passed down from my great grandma, to my grandpa, to my mom, and now me. I'm proud to have this simple yet tasty recipe to carry down for those quick dinners or the early morning breakfasts that you want to wrap up in a warm tortilla just as if you were wrapped up in a warm blanket. It brings warmth and memories of eating it with everyone and listening to the crazy stories of dreams and the day that is to come. Something that I will never forget when I eat the food is all the memories I will cherish of my great grandmother letting me stay over at her house, and her asking if I wanted some to eat since of course it is something I will never turn down. She was also the one who gave it to me for the first time and when I had eaten it, she knew that I loved it and that it would be something that we all hold close when she is no longer with us. I hope in the future my family will get as excited as I did when I would wake up and open my door to the familiar delicious smell of chorizo and egg.
