Before I started this project I had no idea how my family ended up here. My grandpa, my great uncle, my great grandpa, my great grandma all traveled together from Germany to America. They could only bring two chests of their items, they were mainly full of blankets, and mattresses, but my grandpa, Tom Schott, brought one toy with him, a little cat toy. When they were on the boat they were given a few tin utensils to eat with. My grandpa was only five but he still remembers a few things about the boat and Germany. When my family arrived in America they were reunited with my great great grandparents. I have learned so much about my family history since when I started this project.
