Being that my oldest ancestors came to this country in 1711, I don’t have a massive connection to my ancestors. But there one item in my house that reminds me of the generations that came before me, which is the chandelier that is in my dining room. It is a constant reminder of my ancestors and the generations that come before. My grandmother uses ancestory.com to track down older ancestors and learn more about them, but I don’t know one hundred percent if that stuff is true. I don’t have many things to remind of my past but this chandelier is one of them. My mom inherited the chandelier when her mom moved. And my grandma got it from Nana, my great-grandma. Although this doesn’t directly relate to my immigrant past it reminds me of my grandma and my great-grandma. It brings back specific memories to me of my Nana sitting in one chair in her house and her laugh. I wish I knew more about my ancestors and this object makes me wonder even more.
