Cassette tape
I interviewed my wonderful tia; tia means aunt in Spanish. Her name is Margarita and she is from Mexico. In my family, we call her Maggie for short. She is also from my mom’s side. Maggie is my mom’s younger sister and she is the second youngest in the family. While her journey to come to America, she had a object that she treasures a lot. That object is a cassette tape. This object is very old and it plays music. This object is important to her because it had songs that she loved and it was there for her in the darkest moments. Maggie migrated to America because she wanted to get a better life for herself and her family. This better life to her was high education, help her lover, get more money, and have a better job. To achieve this better life she went through a lot of pain. Maggie lost friendships, left home, quit her job, had to learn English, and had to start a new life. Her immigrant experience is important because she went through pain and many people can relate to this experience. People can relate because this happens all around the world. The immigrant story is the American story because America was made out of immigrants. An example is my aunt coming to America to combine with other Americans and help them with their country. Immigrants come to help the economy and help full up jobs. Another big example is the fathers of America because they came to America and made America that we know today.
