Candy
A holiday that my community celebrates which contains games, singing, meals, and candies is called Sweet December. Sweet December marks the beginning of the Christmas Season and is celebrated on the last day of November or the 1st of December. The first time I celebrated it I felt excited because since candies and competitions were involved that would mean laughter and entertainment. The candy that my mom brought was Piedmont Candy Peppermint Puffs. I remember grabbing a few and shoving them in my mouth before she brought them over to the Church because I knew they’d be gone the moment she sat them down with the other food and snacks for people to enjoy. After all the fun activities, the youths each grabbed a can of silly strings and waited until it struck 12 before spraying it at one another. People were screaming, shouting, and running around while laughing. I remember ending the night with a group photo with everyone that was still there. The lesson that this story teaches me and you is to spend time together with family and friends or even with your community.
