In 1945, my great-grandmother Nell moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University. This photo was taken around the time she arrived in New Orleans. She is with her friends on Canal Street while they explored their new city. I love this picture of my Nana, because it shows how spirited and determined she was to move away from rural Alabama, and make something of herself. I like to think I take after her! - Love you Nana (1926-2016)
