Burma Landscape
I’m an immigrant from Burma but I grew up in Thailand. I came to the USA on April 24th, 2014. This landscape is of Burma where my father owned and worked on rice paddies. I remember the landscape from when I was eight. There were buffalo along with a cart and they helped pull the plow. There are coconut trees, banana trees, mango, lemon, orange. My parents cooked for me. There are two huts in the background and behind the huts are huge mountains. I drew the rooster because we had some very colorful roosters. We had buffalo, roosters, hens. The roosters would wake us up for work at 4 am. My parents grew up on a farm so they were used to it but not me. I drew this from memory. My grandma brought Buddhist wooden prayer beads. I draw my father’s farm a lot. I’ve drawn it many times and I’ve written stories about it. My uncle is taking care of it for now. I miss my father’s farm - maybe one day after I graduate I will go back to visit.
