Bracelets
This object is a bracelet this bracelet was given to my great-grandma from Puerto Rico. Her mother gave it to her before she left her country to go to the United States. She was fourteen when she took a plane to America to learn how to speak English and to have a better future for herself. She became a maid at the age of 14 and she worked very hard for the little bit of money she got. This object is important to this person because it was a gifted from her mother that became very special to her. The object had two pictures inside one of her mother and the other was a picture of her. I think that her mother gave her a bracelet because even though her mother can’t be there physically she can be there mentally with her. This object tells me about the experience of immigrants was like and how hard immigrants worked. Also how sad it was for the immigrants because they had to be separated from their loved ones.
