Great Grandmother's Bracelet
Great Grandmother's Bracelet

My great-great-grandmother immigrated from Italy when she was 16. Eventually, she had a daughter named Madeline. When Madeline turned 16, she received a bracelet for her birthday. This bracelet was passed down to my grandmother, Madeline’s oldest daughter and then to my mother. The bracelet is silver, very small, and stretchy. Next to her name are two hearts. It is slightly broken and very old. No one wears it anymore, but it stays in my mother’s jewelry box. When I tried on the bracelet it was tight around my wrist by still fit. The bracelet is a reminder of all of the strong women in my family. Because I am the oldest daughter, I will probably receive it myself one day.
