I actually don't know what my family is. We are American. We aren't African, but I don't know how to describe it. My family has grown up in different parts of the world. My grandma grew up in Louisiana, and I have family in Miami, Florida, the Bahamas, Texas, Hawaii... it's hard to know everything. I have some German in my bloodline. My mom told me that we've actually had some royalty in our family. I wonder what that was about... It'd be nice to learn more about my family. The object I chose was a bracelet my grandma gave me last Christmas. It's important to me because this bracelet was something that everyone in our family had. It was like getting a gift that you had to keep passing on and on... even though it wasn't. She said it symbolized something. I don't remember what it was exactly, but every time I think deeply about this bracelet, I'll remember her words. This bracelet represents me as a person because it made me have something "more" to value. Before, I don't think I really had anything that I cherished so much. I don't really pay attention to stuff like that, but this assignment has made me wonder about my culture, even though I don't exactly know what it is. I guess I just want to find out who I could be, and the history of those who came before me.
