Boat
Every year my grandparents, my aunt, my mom, my step dad, and me collectively go to Stockton lake in Missouri. While we are there, we make s’mores and go boating for hours each day and we also go tubing which is super fun. Boating and going to the lake has been a part of my culture for five generations because my grandpa’s grandparents owned a farm near Stockton and they sold the land to the government for a lake to be created. The lake has a hydro dam so it provides water and electricity to nearby towns. It is an army corps of engineers lake which means that the government had special engineers design it to control floods, conserve the environment, and be a water preserve. This is my culture because as Americans we like to go outside and do really cool things like boating and camping. We can trace our ancestry to Ireland and England but we don’t share any cultural practices with them since our family has been a part of America since before the first World War.
