Since I can remember, my mother has always loved pearls. She loves the delicacy of the pearls and how precious they are and how they can become such beautiful jewelry. This necklace in particular though, she holds very sacred. My mother was gifted the necklace by a close family friend, who still remains her friend, 7 years ago on her birthday. My mother loves the thin gold chain, how delicate it is and the one singular pearl that can not be replaced because it is one of a kind. There are many pearls that are similar but not each one is the exact same. That’s how she describes me and my 4 sisters. We all come from the same womb, but all of us are different in our own unique way. My sister was the first to wear it for her graduation picture; it was elegant and was a representation of my mother in some way. I also wore it for my graduation pictures and it was like a small piece of her on me that reminded me of how my mother has helped me grow into the young lady I am today, A reminder that there can be many people in the world that can be like me, but there’s always something special that I have in my heart that is different from others. This pearl necklace is something I hope to see my sisters, and in the far future, daughters and nieces, wear for a special occasion just like graduation or even their wedding to remind them that they are just as precious and unique as a pearl like my mother always tells me.
