Whenever I was bored when I was a kid, nothing I could do would be fun enough. Reading was too boring, and so was watching TV, drawing, coloring. Then, one time, we went to visit my grandparents on my moms side. I saw my grandma crocheting a sweater for her dog and I didn't know what it was but I thought it looked really fun to do. I asked my grandma to teach me how to do it and she was ecstatic too. At first it was really challenging, but my grandma was really patient and was a great teacher. It took a while but I started to get better at it and I was even able to make a little basket like thing with a hanger. I was sad that we had to go home but my grandma let me take a ball of yarn home so that I could continue to practice. Crochet was all I did for weeks and weeks. I made blankets for my dogs and little bins. Nobody could get me to stop. A few months after we got back home my grandma sent me a blanket that she had made for me. I fell in love with this blanket, I loved the smell of it, I loved how I could see through the blanket, I loved how heavy the blanket was when I put it over my legs. I still sleep with my blanket because it brings back great memories of that special time when my grandma taught me how to crochet.
