I chose this bible that my great-great grandmother gave my mother when she was 4. The women in my family have seem to keep their faith despite hardships and terrible things they've had to overcome. Throughout my life I have lived in a heavily matriarchal family, on both my mother and fathers’ side, a woman is the head of the family. And despite the many obstacles that life and men throw their way they still seem to find comfort and trust within their faith. Religion is a big thing in my family, and it is a concept I’ve grown up with and have found comfort in. Despite what I believe in now, It is still a part of who I am whether that be from traditions at Christmas to memories at church. And even though I’m not able to meet and speak to my ancestors, one thing has somehow kept us strung together through generations and that is the bible.
