Bavarian PretzelsI have found a recipe for Bavarian pretzels. These soft pretzels are famous around the world and originate from Germany. Pretzels are very important to me and my family as well as many families in Germany. They are a staple in the Bavarian diet and can be found in every bakery across the country. My father moved to the United States 15 years ago from Bavaria, he is currently the only person on his side of the family living here. My great grandmother used to make her own pretzels but unfortunately, no one in my family saved the recipe so I found a similar one online. I have fond memories of eating her homemade pickles when I was young but unfortunately, have never tried her famous pretzels. I have heard many stories from my father about the food she used to make and he never fails to mention the pretzels. For many years my family made these pretzels every few days until eventually, they started buying them from the bakery because they could afford to.  The process of making them is somewhat time-intensive and there are many steps but in the end, taking a delicious bite of the fresh-baked soft dough is worth every ounce of effort. To me, these pretzels symbolize family and tradition. Every time I visit Germany a pretzel is always one of the first things I will eat and I have been enjoying them since before I can remember.
