Batillos
My grandma immigrated at 20 years to new york in 1970. She spoke little to no English, while going to college. I put this food as my story because for some reason she makes this every week. She would always eat this back home. She would use different types of ingredients and recipes including adding veggies, cheese and would sometimes crisp it to the max. This food represents her struggle and her perseverance to know barely anything about America and the English language. Living with her mother in a small apartment. She persevered and showed the American dream, as she came here with barely anything and just a small apartment and was able to turn that into a 40 year career in working as a CPS worker.
