Bangles

In Attire
Relationship: Child of im/migrant

Both my mother and father grew up and lived in Bangladesh, a country in South Asia, and have moved to America when my father had won a lottery. Although bangles are traditionally worn at weddings or special events/ celebration, these bangles are significant to my parents journey from Bangladesh to America. My mother had worn them on the day of her wedding and wore them on the same day she had boarded a plane with my father towards New York. My mother had told me that the bangles had given her a sense of comfort knowing she was giving herself a better opportunity for her family in the future, and a feeling of love knowing my father was the one who had made the opportunity possible for them. Till this day my mother kept these bangles and worn them time to time to remind her of home, and thankful for the opportunity to be able to have a better life.
