I have had a backpack since October 2009 when I first came to New York. It is still my favorite backpack, even though I only used it for one year. On the front are three princesses, Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle. My backpack is pink and purple, it has two side pockets, two large compartments and one small one. That backpack helped me get over my shyness. It seemed to have special powers. When I was afraid to answer someone who spoke to me, I would hold my backpack in my arms and squeeze it tight. When I squeezed it, I felt a surge of courage that helped me talk more to the other students. I started to answer their questions. At first, I gave only one or two-word answers, but gradually, I was able to speak in longer sentences.
