Have you ever eaten Arroz con gandules? Well you should, its a Puerto Rican rice dish that includes rice, pigeon peas, and a sofrito base, and multiple types of seasonings thats all cooked together in one big pot. You can also add pork or ham into it.This rice dish is from Puerto Rico, it originates in ancient Persia, later spreading through North Africa and Moorish Spain. This dish is important to me because it represents my culture and my heritage, me and my family eat it 4 times or more around the whole year. Usually for special occasions like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years, and Birthdays. Its a very special tradition and dish that my family loves to eat. We usually eat it with ketchup on top and tostones, potato salad and chicken on the side. I will carry on this dish by making it when i get older for myself and family, I would want my kids to know about their Puerto Rican heritage and try many dishes and drinks from there.
