Arepas

Arepas, originating from Colombia, are a versatile food, can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Arepas are made out of cornmeal, which is most commonly filled with cheese. Many different toppings can be put on top or can be eaten as a side dish. My grandmother would make Arepas for my mom growing up, and she taught her how to make them. My mom would also make me arepas and taught me how to make them just like her mother did. Arepas are now a nostalgic food for me, and this tradition brings me comfort.
