This apple pie recipe was passed down to my dad, and my great aunt, from my great-grandmother before she died. In the three occasions in as many years before my great-grandmother’s passing, my dad, great grandmother, brother, and I would all meet at my great aunt’s house to make some pies for the rest of the family. My great-grandmother would always bring this apple pie recipe for us to follow, but she would never show us the recipe itself, saying that it was some kind of secret. We would spend the whole day just making pies; at least half a dozen of them. There were so many good memories associated with that recipe that even though my great-mother is now deceased, her legacy lives on through those pies.
