My artifact is my mom’s kindergarten yearbook. It is from 1979, and includes pictures of her and her classmates as kindergarteners, as well as my uncle as a first grader. I like to look back at family objects that have been passed down like this, because I can compare them to my own and see how things have changed. In this yearbook, it shows the senior graduating class from that year and what colleges they went to. It is interesting to think about how the people who were graduating that year, assuming they were around 18, are around 62 today. Additionally, just looking at the yearbook and pictures in it, I can see how the style was different back then. The people look old-fashioned and are dressed very differently than what is popular today. They also have very different hairstyles than the average highschooler would have in 2023. There are also many pictures of sports teams and the uniforms they wore. Comparing the pictures of girls on the tennis team compared to how people dress at school tennis matches today, it is very interesting to see how they are different. For example, back then, the tennis rackets were wood and a lot smaller, and the uniforms looked a lot different than the ones people wear today.
