This chain and ball in cage was whittled by my great grandfather out of one long two pieces of firewood. The chain and ball in cup did not have a real purpose, it was just used for fun. My grandfather showed me them, it was in his keepsake cabinet. We do not use it at all, it is just something cool to admire. This object is important to me because it shows how my great grandfather had a real love for woodworking and whittling. This object connects to me because I love to whittle and I am very interesting in inventions.
