Wedding Spoon Ring

The object that means the most to my family is a wedding ring. It was made in 1881 and it is from Italy. The reason the title is spoon ring is because, the wedding ring is made out of a spoon. The reason it was made out of a spoon is because my great-great-great-grandparents were very poor. So my great-great-great grandpa made the ring by himself and carved 1881 in it, for their wedding. The history behind my object is my great-great-great-grandpa made it for my great-great-great-grandma. My family has been passing it down from generation to generation, and now six generations later, I get the ring. My object looks like they cut the part off you eat with, and you fold that part under the big part. It has curvy designs and it is silver. The wedding ring is important to my family because it show’s how we love each other. We could have sold it and made about $20-$200 easily. But no, we kept the ring for over 100 years and are proud of it. I chose this object because everyone in my family has a connection with it and one day I will too. Also I thought no one else was going to bring in a spoon ring. You might have seen a spoon ring in America today. The Europeans brought spoon rings (or fork rings) into our country little by little. Now spoon rings are becoming a trend, and everyone wants one. So, the next time you go to a street fair, see if you can find a spoon ring.
