Red Envelope
My object is a red envelope, symbolizing good luck and fortune. The red envelope is typically red and comes in a variety of different designs. It must be new and the money inside must be clean and crisp. This object is a part of my religion because it is our tradition every Chinese New Year, to give a red envelope to those who are unmarried, usually children. I came to know about the red envelope from my grandparents. I remember being really young and being educated about this. My grandparents couldn't stress enough about how I should cherish the money and use it wisely. This is also why the item is important to me, because it taught us to cherish what was given. Red envelopes were always part of my own identity because it was engraved into my culture, to be grateful for the money and to remember that luck is always next to us.
