The object is a gold watch from my mom's grandmother. The watch tells time, even though it is old. My mom uses the watch now. It is made of gold. My great grandmother collected gold because she remembered that during the famine in Ukraine people exchanged a lot of gold for a piece of bread. She was a child when the famine in Ukraine took place.
I wrote about the watch because it reminds me of my great grandmother. It reminds me of history and the culture. I also miss relatives in Ukraine.
